The Strength of Men

The word strength applies to both natural and supernatural strength. Believers are to “be strong in the Lord and in His mighty Power” -Ephesians 6:10

The unlimited Power of the Messiah is the Source of strength for those who belong to Him.

The spiritual strength is not our own. It is from GOD’s Spirit that is connected to our faith journey. “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know Me, that I am the Lord” -Jeremiah 9:23–24

The Biblical strength of men is rooted in character, leadership, wisdom, and divine purpose. All of them are products of this strength. GOD’s Strength in us is what steady support looks like; and should be our Leader, according to the Truth of the Spirit.

The “strong” men listed in the Bible demonstrated bravery, kindness, and faithfulness. Their strength came from trusting GOD and following His Ways.

Biblical masculinity is rooted in faith.

If we are trusting in GOD's Power and if we are walking in His providence are visible and active. Those hallmarks will be there for others to see and be able to tell if we are real or not. “Talk is cheap” is something all people can agree with.

GOD’s Holy Word offers timeless principles of strength, integrity, and leadership that provide a Guiding Light for men. That example is none less than His Son, Jesus, our Hope and Redeemer. What He endured and walked out was nothing less than a supreme display of the Strength of the Spirit of His Dad!

In the everyday natural and Biblical context, strength is often understood as the power, might, or ability to perform tasks, overcome obstacles, and endure hardships. It encompasses both physical and spiritual dimensions, reflecting the capacity to act in accordance with GOD's will and to withstand trials through faith.

No matter how strong we think we are, “the flesh is weak” (Mark 14:38). Left to our own devices, we will fall into temptation and fail in any worthy endeavor. The weakness inherent in human nature is why the Bible offers to us “the Strength of the Lord.” We are toast without It.

Christ’s “Power is made perfect in weakness” -2 Corinthians 12:9.

As we learn to rely on GOD’s strength--instead of our own, we gain new statures of maturity. The Word of GOD declares this to us… “The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer. He enables me to tread on the heights” -Habakkuk 3:19

The Lord gives His children:

1. Strength to minister to others -1 Timothy 1:12 & 1 Peter 4:11

2. Strength to face persecution -2 Timothy 1:8

3. Strength to overcome death -1 Corinthians 15:57

Those who rely on GOD’s Strength from day to day will find in Him a never-ending Spring of Energy.

  • “Blessed are those whose strength is in You. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before GOD in Zion” --Psalm 84:5-7

  • “As GOD’s, we are strengthened by His grace (pity, mercy and kindness)” -Hebrews 13:9, by our time spent in prayer (Luke 18:1), and by the promise that He will reward our efforts (Galatians 6:9)

  • Many around us may grow weary and faint, but “those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint” --Isaiah 40:31

  • "My grace is all you need, for My Power is the greatest when you are weak" -2 Corinthians 12:9

  • "GOD is our Refuge and Strength, an ever-present Help in trouble” -Psalm 46:1

  • "He gives Strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak" -Isaiah 40:29

Where does our ability to be “strong” and pass each test and trial come from? The Source is from the Strength of the LORD GOD.

It is the same Power and Ability that He gave His Son to endure the cross that led to the redemption of the world.
