Reasons (excuses) for Not Trusting GOD

We all have “reasons” why we choose to not trust the Creator of the world, cosmos, babies and the universe with our lives.

Scripture has much to say about trusting GOD and having faith in GOD. These two terms have essentially the same meaning—to trust GOD is the same as having faith in GOD—so we can always use them interchangeably.

Right now, we will only use one reason: “FEAR” for not trusting Him.

Is it any wonder GOD says to us over and over again in Scripture, “Do not fear?”

-We worry that things will fall apart....
-Our families of origin....
-Past betrayals....
-A distorted image of Who He is....
-Lack of stillness and silence before Him....
-Perfectionism…

Your mind is set on maintaining a comfortable life. That “comfort” can and often will, keep you from following Christ.

Jesus makes it abundantly clear that “there will be a cost” and there will be pain in following "Him. So, if your heart (mind) is set on choosing the easiest path, you will not follow Christ.

There are a few reasons why we can doubt. One reason that we may struggle is that we are looking and focusing on our current situation and not on GOD's promises. Another reason that we struggle to trust the LORD is that we still remember going through difficult times.

When we consider that trust is the absence of fear, we can reasonably consider that our actions of mistrust are based on the fear that I can no longer control a situation that I never really had complete control over in the first place. If you and I allow that to sink into our minds, we will often realize that trusting GOD boils down to us being willing to ride in the back seat of our dream car, as His Son (Jesus) drives.

Perhaps the most foundational element of any relationship is trust. No kinship can function properly without it. When trust is lacking, personal unions break down and we retreat into suspicion and defensiveness. Our society would falter if marriages, businesses, families and individuals didn’t extend basic trust to one another.

EXAMPLE: A lack of trust in those who can help us can lead to ruin. “I may die if I’m having a heart attack but refuse to call 9-1-1 because I distrust medical personnel.”

Did that just take it too far? If that sound logical, you have some major trust issues.
