Marriage is often depicted as a lifelong partnership filled with love and shared dreams. Yet, communicating with people, watching couples and even looking into my own marriage reveals that many marriages face countless hurdles. Many happen within just a few years. While the initial romance may spark joy and optimism, underlying issues can lead to divorce. ed.

Why do some marriages fall apart?

Day one, or even many years prior, many couples have idealized anticipations of yourself and the other that have been shaped by romanticized hope.

Any one of those expectations can and will often create a gap between fantasy and reality. When partners face the inevitable challenges of daily life, the disparity between their dream and their experience can lead to disappointment.

Where does this disappointment come from? How did we get “here?”
